WarBots game

Someone asked if the game Warbots, which is referenced in "The Wizardry Cursed" actually exists.

The answer is "yes and no".

There's no such game as Warbots, but the fictional game is patterned closely on RoboTech, the popular tabletop and computer wargame that a wide variety of robots to fight battles hundredss of years in the future.

I suspect you mean BattleTech
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BattleTech
(The FASA/Wizkids game)

which used some of the designs from

Robotech
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robotech
(Carl Macek's rewrite of Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Super Dimensional Cavalry Southern Cross and Genesis Climber Mospeada.)

Without actually being a direct licensed Robotech or Macross product. Thus the lack of Robotech (And Sunfang Dougram) designs in recent versions.

I always wondered if it was supposed to be RoboTech or not. Good to know I wasn't completely on crack.

I just picked up your books and reread them for what seems to be the 100th time... I got a new phone that allows to me to read them in my old ebook format that my old PDA used to be in. My question... (and I know this isn't the place for it, sorry) is why isn't The Wizardry Quested in an ebook format? I bought the other books off of Baen.com but it didn't even mention that there was a 5th book (if they're not selling it, I can see why) But did you have a problem with the format?

Quick questions for you, since I can't find it online anywhere, nor can I find any other contact info for you...

The planet that the Wiz books occur on... Does it have a name?

Is there a Wiz wiki anywhere?

I've just finished reading all your books available at Baen and i have to say i was in rage! How could you do this to me?! 5am in the morning, sleep deprived and absobloodylutely stuck at either reading your latest work or fork out $122 for the out-published hardback copy of "Wizard Quested" to satisfy my reading fever, no other alternative. (well except my local public library, but i have step into one of those every since i got the interweb...)

So Merry Met indeed. You have me on my knees, please..put me out of this misery....please release a ebook of Wizard Quested! please!it doesn't have to Baen! it could be to a more expensive ebook seller! i Don't Care! It can't be as much as the out-published hardback price!

ppleeeeeaaasssee! I'm begging you!

*silently sobs to himself*

Mr. Cook,

I'm of mixed emotions on hearing about Wiz 6. Amazed and delighted there is a sequel out, and saddened and depressed that it's not actually going to be a finished book.

I had no idea you had a blog up or I'd have visited it sooner. Sadly, looks like you've quit updating it for most of 2009.

The Wiz books have been among my favorites ever since I accidentally came across the second book in the late 90's. I spent months trying to find the first one, and finally discovering a reprint with both 1 and 2. Naturally weeks later I came across book 1.

Rick Cook is a name I hunt down in every bookstore I come across, although generally it seems few people are willing to sell their old books of yours. I did finally finish getting up to #5 though.

I hope you recover soon from your surgery. There aren't enough authors that write as you do. Most authors stop and ignore the logical directions of what they hand their protagonists, but you let them build on them naturally. I don't find myself screaming at your characters asking why they don't take the next step.

So even if you quit now, thanks for writing those books. It's a story I enjoy rereading more than most books.
